Celebrating Student Volunteering Week

This week (23^rd February – 1^st March) marks Student Volunteering Week and across the UK, universities, colleges and charities are paying tribute to the incredible contributions student volunteers make to their communities.

At IntoUniversity, we are taking this week as an opportunity to celebrate the hundreds of students who volunteer with us each year. Without their tireless enthusiasm and dedication, so much of what we do would not be possible.

Student volunteers make up 42% of our volunteer base, supporting us in both regular and short term roles. From Academic Support Tutors and Mentors to Buddies and FOCUS volunteers, our programme is richer as a result of their involvement.

Student volunteers help to bring university to life to our students, showing them around their campuses, answering questions and providing opportunities for young people to get a taste of university subjects and societies. Through our regular roles, student volunteers share their experiences and academic skillsets, providing our young people with inspirational role models to look up to. A small number of our student volunteers also represent us as Ambassadors, taking a leadership role on campus and building a community for all IntoUniversity volunteers studying at their university. The wealth and breadth of insight, passion and skills students bring to our work is truly invaluable.

Throughout Student Volunteering Week we will be saying as many thank yous as possible, both on and offline, as well as raising awareness of the roles students play in our work. Please watch out for new content on our Facebook and Twitter feeds to keep up to date with what we’re up to.

So, to start the celebrations, I would like to say the first thank you to every single one of our student volunteers for everything that they have done and continue to do to support us in our work.
