IU Mentors win Gold Volunteering Awards

Three IntoUniversity volunteers, Maurice Rose, Wayne Yeang, and Harish Santhanam , have been rewarded with Volunteering England’s Gold Awards for their high standard of performance throughout the year.

Maurice, Wayne and Harish - all students at Imperial College London - have been actively involved in the delivery of the IntoUniversity programme.

Volunteering England’s Gold Award is the only national student volunteering award that marks the excellence in student volunteering by recognising achievement, dedication and leadership within Further and Higher Education. One of the winners Santhanam Harish describes his experience of being a volunteer: 'Through the Mentoring programme and the Buddy Days, I have been able to reach out to the community and provide a great deal of support to the students and give them more of an opportunity to succeed in life. In addition to that, not only have I been able to help others, I have also learnt and enhanced many skills from these students along the way.'
