A Letter from David Cameron to IU Hackney South Students

In the Autumn Term 2011 the Primary Academic Support students at IU Hackney South were studying Politics and Philosophy. During a literacy session they wrote letters to Meg Hillier, MP for Hackney South, suggesting ways to make Hackney a better place to live. The centre took the Primary and Secondary Student Council members on a visit to the Houses of Parliament in December so that they could deliver the letters to Meg Hillier in person. They took a tour of the Houses of Parliament and spoke with Ms Hillier about employment, litter, crime and working as a politician.

The students were delighted to receive personalised replies from Ms Hillier, and very excited to receive a letter from the Prime Minister which arrived this week. In it, David Cameron thanks the students for raising their views about litter, pollution and school meals saying ‘If we can get more people like you interested in caring for the environment and reducing litter we can make the country better for everyone!’
